Therapy and Wellbeing

The right support, at the right time.

Therapy

Therapy built into the day

Therapists work alongside our teachers, and meet regularly with school and families around shared goals for each child.

  • Speech, language and occupational therapy

Therapists from bMindful Psychology give every child speech and language, occupational therapy and educational psychology support, with direct sessions where a child’s plan asks for them.

  • Emotional literacy

Our full-time ELSA supports children one to one or in small groups, alongside block building therapy, drawing and talking, and social communication groups.

  • The Youth Fairy

Solution-focused therapists help children who are struggling with anxiety, anger, stress or low confidence.

  • Wellbeing tracking

Every child’s wellbeing is tracked in our Wellbeing Portal, overseen by educational psychologists, so support is planned from evidence.

Spaces to regulate

Somewhere calm to go

When a moment feels too much, children have a calm space and an adult who knows them, so they can get back to learning.

  • Cubbie

A sensory pod that runs a personalised ten-minute regulation programme. Every child has access.

  • Calm and sensory rooms

A quiet calm room and dedicated sensory rooms, used for planned sensory diets and whenever a child needs them.

  • Outdoors

Sand and water play, an all-weather playground, a trim trail, a Forest School area and a sensory music zone.

Staff make use of the wide range of sensory resources in the school to support pupils to regulate. Pupils learn to do this for themselves.

Relational support

Calm, connected, ready to learn

Our approach to behaviour is relational. Behaviour is communication, so we start by understanding what a child is telling us.

Our relational support team

Our Relational Support Manager and Relational Support Lead work with class teams to understand behaviour and plan support. Staff are trained in CPI Safety Intervention, with the focus on prevention and de-escalation.

Learning to regulate

Staff spot early when a child needs help. Over time, children learn to notice their feelings, use calming strategies and ask for help in their own way, including with picture icons.

What this looks like in practice

  • The same adults every day, who know the child
  • Predictable routines with room for flexibility
  • Visual supports, now and next boards, and clear language
  • Regulation breaks planned into the day

The teachers go above and beyond to ensure they remain well regulated.
